Question 2: Vote YES

Raise $5M by resetting your baseline property tax to close the current year’s $5M budget gap, avoid a state monitor, and reduce the cuts we need to make in future years’ budgets.

How to vote by mail

Key dates:

  • Request a ballot by March 3.

  • Drop off your completed ballot by March 10 OR mail your completed ballot in time to be postmarked by March 10 (allow a few days between mailbox and postmarking at a USPS office).

Step 1: Request ballot (by March 3)

  1. Complete your request online OR print the request form.

  2. In Section 1, you have 2 options:

    1. Select “ALL FUTURE ELECTIONS” since voting by mail is easy!

    2. If you’re just interested in voting by mail for this election, fill out the line that says SPECIAL or OTHER with “MONTCLAIR SCHOOL BOARD”.

Keep in mind:

  • If you print the form at home, you can mail your application in a regular envelope but need to address it and add postage.

  • If you vote by mail in every election, you automatically receive a ballot in the mail.

  • If you’ve requested a mail-in ballot before and you checked off “all future elections” then you are all set!

  • If you requested a mail-in ballot for December 9 and did NOT include “all future elections” you must request a new mail-in ballot for March 10.

Step 2: Check the mail

A mail-in ballot will be mailed to your address!

Step 3: Complete ballot

  • Check the envelope to confirm that you received:

    • The ballot

    • The inner envelope with attached certificate

    • A mailing envelope

  • Completely fill in the oval next to each of your selections in blue or black ink.

  • Fill in and sign the certificate, keeping it attached to the inner envelope.

  • Place the ballot into certificate envelope.

  • Then, place the certificate envelope into the mailing envelope.

Step 4: Return ballot (by March 10)

The BEST way to ensure your ballot is counted is to bring your ballot to the drop box at 205 Claremont Ave. by 7:59 pm on March 10.

If you choose to return your ballot by mail, it must be postmarked by March 10. Keep in mind that there can be a delay (up to several days) between when you put something in the mail and when USPS stamps the postmark. To make sure your ballot is counted, mail your ballot before March 10.

Step 5: Track ballot

You can track your mail-in ballot here: NJ Voter Information Portal - Track My Ballot.
